Laughing Waters Road: Art, Memory & Landscape in Eltham (2016)

Laughing Waters Road was a 3-year project gathering the stories and history of Laughing Waters Road, Eltham. Funded by a Federal Government Your Community Heritage Grant, the project comprised a book, and exhibition and catalogue at Montsalvat Arts Centre, Eltham. Laughing Waters, on Birrarung (Yarra River) is the site of a 12 000 year old eel trap, and had two artist residencies jointly run by Parks Victoria and Nillumbik Shire Council until 2017.

The images below were taken at a ceremony at Killeavey / garambi baan, where a ceremonial gathering place has been created high above Birrarung and the eel trap.
